The face behind Walker Home Decor

A Little About Me: 

I am a self taught wood worker thats still learning as I go. An extrovert who thrives in social situations and has always been a creative and innovative person with a love for a good DIY!  I express my creativity not only through woodworking but also special fx makeup and body painting!

In my downtime, my heart belongs to my fur baby Marley, a 6 year old pampered French bulldog who rules the roost. I love to travel, spend time with my partner, hike, camp, box and of course shop, and can never resist a cold craft beer!

A Brief Overview of my Professional Background:

In 2019, I earned a diploma in Child & Youth Care after having already built a strong foundation in Early Childhood Education. I worked in emergency housing, providing direct support to at-risk youth, and then moved on to work directly with victims of sexual exploitation. Since the age of 17, it has been my passion to work with children and young people who have experienced trauma, and I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every moment of it. 

Fast forward to July 2023, I finally took the leap to pursue Walker Home Decor full time and have been soaking in every moment of being my own boss!
 

My Dad:



growing up I was raised in the country, in a world where cellphones and tablets didn't exist and all I had was my imagination to entertain myself most days. My fathers side of the family are artists in many different forms. My grandmother is a talented painter, My uncle is a welder who creates statues out of metal, and my dad is an amazing singer, sketch artist & a kick ass carpenter - a perfectionist, and damn good at what he does!

I remember being a little girl and hanging out in my dads shed while he worked. He would set me up with some scrap pieces of wood, a hammer and a few nails to keep me busy and I would sit there and build my barbie dolls furniture. Fast forward to being a teenager and needing a few extra bucks, my dad decided to hire me to clean up around his job sites - a job I loathed then but appreciate now.

I watched my dad build his business from the ground up - from passing him down tools off of our apartment building balcony while he loaded it into a beat up mini van, to watching him become so successful and take his business to a place where he now works out of a 3 car garage he custom built and was able to purchase his dream car - a corvette!

My dad is the most driven man I know, and I am incredibly grateful to have him as my role model. When I launched my own business, he handed over his tools and taught me all he knew until I was ready to step out on my own. He's been my biggest cheerleader from day one, even when others didn't believe in me.

Looking back, I realize that my childhood experiences with him played a significant role in shaping who I am today. From dreading trips to Home Depot as a child to loving tool shopping as an adult, I owe it all to him
